Having launched niche perfume house ORTIR Apothecari last May with four eau de parfum, all inspired by and using key ingredients from the landscape around us, I wanted to continue to keep my creative juices flowing.
I set about a brief which was less location and more specifically a scent to conjure a very special relationship. To be clear, I didn't want to formulate a fragrance that would actually smell like someone, not even to remind me of that person's favourite scent.
That person being my mother.
It wasn't about just creating a beautiful perfume, but to formulate a fragrance replicating how she makes me feel.
Empowered, confident, cocooned.
It’s a work in progress and not quite ready yet, but I have found that if I’m doing something just out of my comfort zone and wish I had my mum with me, well I’ve been spritzing this and it’s quite extraordinary.
If my mum was a genie she’d be in this bottle.
