To create the finest of fragrances a perfumer has to be both a scientist as well as an artist.
At ORTIR we understand that there is also a fine art to the science behind the capturing of fragrant oils.
Once an essential oil has been distilled there is still much work to be done before we can even start to consider blending into perfume.
Back in the lab we dry the oil by adding anhydrous sodium sulphate. Shaken – not stirred - this fine white powder soaks up residual water content.
Once crystallized, we set about filtering this out gently using a fine grade filter paper. The result is a clarified oil, and only once this process is complete is it ready to store in dark amber bottles out of direct sunlight.
Creating a library of beautiful oils to be left to age and blend into traceable perfumes.
