Spring, ORTIR Apothecari

WARMEST REGARDS

With March officially the warmest on record and April shaping up nicely, working out of doors here at independent perfumery ORTIR Apothecari is a real joy.*

It’s not always this good. I’ve been out all weathers, educating myself in the field (literally) measuring time by harvest.

So, when weather patterns depart from a norm I notice. And as a grower of natural ingredients, which I use in ORTIR fragrance compositions I want to know what this means.

And I seem to be right on trend. Last summer down in the perfume capital, Grasse I witnessed first-hand this renewed interest in the cultivation of aromatics to produce essential oils.

And as I discover more fragrance houses integrating their own flower production into their process I am watching as carefully as I monitor the tiny leaves unfurling on my next chapter.

Small scale production means experimentation, ambition and flex.

Growing and distilling creates beautiful traceable perfumery.

* Right now, I’m tapping away at these keys sitting out on a breezy, bright sunshiny day.
